Twin vs. Full vs. Queen Murphy Cabinet Beds – Which Size Do You Need?

Murphy cabinet beds are available in different sizes, and choosing the right one involves more than deciding how large you want the sleeping surface to be. You also need to consider who will use the bed, how frequently it will be used, and how much room is available when the bed is both closed and fully opened.

Depending on the model, Murphy cabinet beds are available in Twin, Full and Queen sizes.

### Twin Murphy Cabinet Beds

A Twin cabinet bed is the most compact choice and can work especially well when floor space is limited.

Twin models are worth considering for one sleeper, children's rooms, smaller guest rooms, home offices and other spaces where maintaining as much usable floor area as possible is important.

Their smaller cabinet and sleeping footprint can also make them easier to incorporate into rooms where a Full or Queen model would leave insufficient clearance.

### Full Murphy Cabinet Beds

A Full cabinet bed provides a wider sleeping surface than a Twin while remaining more compact than a Queen.

This middle size can be useful for customers who want additional sleeping room for one person but don't have enough available space for a Queen cabinet bed.

A Full may also accommodate two sleepers when appropriate, although the amount of sleeping space each person prefers should be considered before choosing it for regular two-person use.

### Queen Murphy Cabinet Beds

Queen cabinet beds provide the largest sleeping surface among the Twin, Full and Queen cabinet-bed sizes we offer.

They are especially popular for guest rooms where accommodating two adults comfortably is important and sufficient room is available for the cabinet and the fully extended bed.

The larger sleeping surface also means the room must provide more usable space when the bed is open.

### Don't Choose by Mattress Size Alone

A common mistake is considering only the mattress size.

The actual cabinet is wider and deeper than the sleeping surface, and the bed requires considerably more floor space when fully extended.

Dimensions also vary between cabinet-bed models. Two Queen cabinet beds, for example, may not have identical closed or open measurements.

Always use the dimensions of the specific model you are considering rather than assuming that every cabinet bed of the same mattress size has the same overall dimensions.

### Start With These Three Questions

Before deciding between Twin, Full and Queen, consider:

**Who will normally sleep on the bed?** One child or adult may have very different space requirements from two overnight guests.

**How much room is available when the bed is fully open?** The cabinet fitting against the wall does not necessarily mean there is enough room to operate and use the bed comfortably.

**What else does the room need to do?** If the room serves as an office, studio or exercise space, choosing a more compact bed may preserve valuable everyday floor space.
